Our story

It started with a grandmother called Rita

Recipes are more than instructions for making food.

My grandmother was called Rita. She had recipes that formed part of our family life — the things we asked for, the things that appeared at Christmas, the things nobody else made quite the same way.

Some of those recipes were lost over time. Not dramatically; they simply were not written down anywhere that survived. When we went looking for them, they were gone.

That is the whole reason Rita’s Recipes exists. It is a place where a family can keep its recipes together, in one private cookbook, with the people and the stories attached to them. A recipe here can hold who it came from, the handwriting it was written in, the occasions it belongs to and the way it has changed over the years.

What it is not

It is not a meal-planning app with a family feature bolted on, and it is not a place for strangers. Your Recipe Book is private, it is yours, and you can take everything out of it whenever you like.
