Preserving a family recipe is not the same thing as owning every right in the source.

Family originals
A handwritten card, photograph or recipe may belong to you, another relative, a photographer, an author or somebody else depending on how it was created and passed on. Rita’s Recipes does not transfer ownership to itself and does not decide ownership disputes between family members.
If you upload family material, only do so where you have the right or permission needed for the way you intend to use and share it.
Recipes, facts and expression
Ingredients, quantities, timings and other factual information can be legally different from an author’s original written instructions, photographs, illustrations, selection and page design. Do not assume that changing wording automatically makes every use lawful.
Cookbooks, magazines and other published works
Do not use Rita’s Recipes to reproduce or distribute whole cookbooks, magazines or other protected works. Where you record a recipe from a published source, keep the source and attribution information and limit what you copy to what you have a lawful basis to use.
Rita’s Recipes may structure factual recipe information and can help you write a concise family-use method, but that feature is not legal advice and does not guarantee that a particular source can lawfully be copied.
Website imports
When a website source is recorded, Rita’s Recipes keeps the source link and attribution where supplied. Do not import paywalled, access-controlled or otherwise protected material in a way that breaches the source’s rights or terms.
Private does not mean unrestricted
Recipe Books are private by default, but copyright and other rights can still apply to private copying and family sharing. Secure sharing features should not be used to publish somebody else’s protected work more widely.
Reporting infringement
If you believe content hosted through Rita’s Recipes infringes your rights, email support@ritasrecipes.co.uk with enough information for us to identify the material, explain the right you rely on and contact you. Please do not send unnecessary copies of sensitive or unlawful material.
We may restrict a share, remove content or suspend an account while a credible complaint is investigated. We may also ask the uploader for information before reaching a decision.
